Today we've started a new math unit: 2-D Geometry and Patterning.
In this unit, your child will be learning more about 2-D geometric figures, symmetry, and patterns.
The learning goals for this unit are to:
- Describe, sort, and compare 2-D figures according to the number of sides and number of vertices (corners).
- Recognize figures that have symmetry, or matching parts.
- Make patterns using materials and pictures of 2-D figures.
- use positional language to describe movement and location: slide to the left, turn, above, beside.
