Class Updates

Assalamu Alaikum,
Dear Parents,

We had a wonderful week, Alhumdulilah! Here are the updates:

Spelling:  Students wrote a quiz on lesson 26  and completed activities for lesson 27 (words with different endings such as ed, es, and s). Students wrote the spelling list words in their agendas to practice for the quiz.

Reading Comprehension/Writing:So far, students have completed comprehension activities for chapters 1 -5 from our novel study of "Chocolate Fever". Last week, we learned what a summary is and how to write a summary of a chapter book. We completed summaries for each chapter (1-4 ) as a class.

Subtraction with Regrouping: We reviewed and practiced subtraction with regrouping through different activities throughout the week. On Friday, I did an informal assessment regarding their understanding of subtraction and addition with regrouping. I made up a 3 step word problem involving both addition and subtraction operations where they had to add or subtract class dojo points earned and lost in three consecutive days. Students did very well and I am so happy with their work. To show their thorough understanding there will be a test on addition and subtraction with regrouping on Wednesday, April 12th, 2017.

Science: Students reviewed what they know about matter. They made flip books about the changing states of matter and played a game of jeopardy to review before the test. On Friday, students wrote their matter test and the results will be sent after the long weekend inshaaAllah!

Islamic Studies: Students wrote an open book test from chapter 5-8 about Seerah.

Jazakum Allahu Khairun!
