Classwork


Assalamu Alaikum

Dear Parents,

Today we had a wonderful day alhumdulilah!

Spelling: We started our lesson by doing our daily language review. 

Students wrote their spelling quiz (lesson 26), and the bonus was to write polygons and define it. 

We learned the new list words, lesson 27 (adding ing, ed, er and estendings).

Math: We started out new unit about 3D shapes. We watched a video, about solid shapes and learned about different shapes and their faces, edges and vertices. We completed page 138 in our math books. 

Gym: We played  a game called " cats and mice" with a parachute.

Science: We talked about renewable and non-renewable energy, and we watched a video about the different sources of energy (renewable and non-renewable).Students completed a worksheet  where they sorted out renewable and non-renewable energy in their air and water booklet.

Thursday's and Friday's Classwork

Assalamu Alaikum

Dear Parents,

Language:We learned and practiced how to find a word in a dictionary.Students wrote down the meaning of the given word and what part of speech they belong to.

Math:This week, we learned about 2D shapes. Students also learned about polygons(shapes with straight sides) and quadrilaterals(Shapes that have only 4 sides and 4 vertices). They also enjoyed making a flip-book about polygons and quadrilaterals where they wrote down the definition of each and drew shapes that belonged to each category. Students also learned about symmetry and symmetrical shapes around us. They completed some pages in their math books.

Art:Students in-cooperated their knowledge of 2D shapes in Art class where they made 2D shape person out of construction paper and wrote down the description of their shape in a speech bubble template, They did a great job, MashaAllah!

Islamic Studies:Students wrote their Seerah quiz part 1(lessons 1-4) on Thursday.
We started to read  a new chapter called "Who is my Hero." Students took turns to read about the qualities of  a role model and did a discussion before and after reading.

  • Please sign your child's agenda.
  • Students took their spelling books home to practice for their spelling quiz. Please send back your child's spelling book to school for the new lesson on Monday.
  • Homework pack is due on Thursday.

Claswork

Assalamu Alaikum

Dear Parents,

Today we had a wonderful day alhumdulilah!

Math:Students had a pop quiz on subtraction with regrouping.

Math:Today we started a new unit on geometric shapes. This week we will be focusing on 2D shapes, inshaAllah. Also, students took their math book home. Please read and sign the learning objectives on page 214 in their math book.

Language:We discussed and shared the topics that we could write in our autobiographies.

Computer Lab:Students went to the computer lab and played educational games.

Gym:We went outside during our gym time and played soccer and hop scotch.

Science:Today we learned the difference between natural and man made environments and completed a worksheet in our air and water booklets.

  • Seerah Quiz Part 1 is Tomorrow (Unit B, chapters 1 to 4)
  • Please sign your child's agenda.
  •  Abraar School`s Year Book forms were sent home today. 
  • Please read and sign page 214 of the math book and return tomorrow.

Classwork

Assalamu Alaikum

Dear Parents,

Today we had a wonderful day alhumdulilah!

Spelling: Students wrote their spelling quiz, (Lesson 25) and they corrected each other's work.

We stared our new spelling lesson, lesson 26. Students learned when to add suffixes like ing, es, s, and ed to the base word, and they answered questions in their spelling books. 

Math:Students did some more practice on subtraction with regrouping. They solved word problems in their math book.

Library:We went to library and checked out books.

Science:  As you know we started a new unit in science, AIR AND WATER IN THE ENVIRONMENT. Today we talked about how different things around us use water and wind energy. Students completed a worksheet where they cut and pasted pictures that use wind or water energy.

  • Seerah Quiz Part 1 is on Thursday, 04/09/2015 (Unit B, chapters 1 to 4)
  • Please sign your child's agenda.
  • Students took their spelling note book home. Please sign and return.
  • Students took home the information sheet about their in class project on autobiography. Please talk to your child and discuss what they can write about themselves during class.

I hope my email finds you in good health. I would like to give you some update  on the French material covered so far :

1- Questions based on story (comment y aller?) - les questions totales –

2- Introducing the second IPG activity - reading the story -

3- View the play on DVD.

4- Did a gesture review of all verbs taught so far ( fait – dit – lève-toi – assieds-toi – saute – arrête – marche – court – sais – chante –commence –tombe –écoute – aime –vient –reste ouvre –ferme )

5- We did another gesture review of words that students need to practice ( il a peur –  il est content  - je comprends – il est méchant  - il est gentil – je ne sais pas- dehors – dedans- entend- chaud- chaude- longtemps- avant , avion - train - bateau - soucoupe- volante , auto)

6- We did the activity - Fais un dessin –

7- We did the activity - choisis le bon mot –

9- We did another reading of the play (comment y aller?), we used funny and interesting

10 - We did a kinesthetic review of vocabulary using the posters – play Monsieur/Madame dit.

11-  Gesture teaching and review (les mots en actions) .

12-   Play rehearsal – reading the play (we did a gesture association review, using the handbook. We created a few examples drawn for the students lives and experience.

Classwork and Reminders

Assalamu Alaikum

Dear Parents,

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Language: Today we started to learn about how to write an autobiography, and what information to include when writing about yourself. 
We are making a CEREAL BOX AUTOBIOGRAPHY! 

Students watched a video about writing an autobiography. They wrote some personal facts, and completed sentences about themselves.

Please send an empty cereal box with your child to school on Tuesday for our autobiographies. 

Math: Students did some subtraction with regrouping in their math books.

Gym: We played Hockey and Frisbee. 

Science:  We started a new unit in science, AIR AND WATER IN THE ENVIRONMENT. Today we talked about how air is a gas, and water is a liquid. We learned that water power, wind power, and electricity are types of energy. Students completed a work sheet about types of energy.


We started to practice a nasheed for our assembly. Today students took the lyrics to memorize at home.Here is a link
